Two key officials involved in North Korea’s nuclear and missile program were reportedly nowhere to be seen during public events this week, fueling speculation that another missile launch or nuke test could be imminent. Ri Man-gon, supervisor of the department for the nuclear and missile development, and Kim Rak-gyom, the head of the strategic rocket forces, were noticeably missing at a Saturday mass rally in Pyongyang and a Tuesday celebration for the anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea, according to South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo.

NK leaders go missing a lot. Like almost every time they have a test launch. It's been going on for over a year now. Sometimes they just go missing, and there is no launch.

It's pretty hard to read anything into this.

I don't think so. A couple of others on here follow this much more closely, so I'd defer to them.

We could send in a 5 man team with zero knowledge by North Korea and shoot that fricker in the skull and his closest advisors and destroy every evidence of us ever being there

Why is this not an option utilized here

It would shatter the entire God praise of the population and flip things overnight without spending more than a couple bullets and the helicopter fuel

We'd have to rescind the EO that prohibits political assassinations that has been in place since the Ford administration. It would be quite a change in policy.

ETA: Although, now that I think about it, we are still at war with North Korea so the EO doesn't apply.
