The point is, we cannot stubournly, without any forethought, just consider these rights as absolutes, in view if the excesses and extreme see they've caused.
No, no, no, Ethan - that's where progressives are wrong. NO right is absolute, first of all. Second, if a person yells "Fire!" in a crowded theater, then we punish THAT guy for reckless endangerment.
If it happens several times, we start posting security/police near the doors and the exits, if 50 guys yell "FIRE!", and people start to get hurt/killed, then we start charging those guys with manslaughter. If we can prove more, charge them with murder.
We DON'T respond by taking away the rights of people who DIDN'T do this. Otherwise we are at the mercy of the lawless and allowing them to dictate what we can and cannot do.
