Well, I haven't seen the Pokemon theory of evolution.

But if he tells me that I evolved from a Charmander, it will be about as believable as the theory that I came from primordial ooze.

Every time I think I can let my guard down and not just assume people one here are loony religious nuts who live in little swamp towns they come full force against evolution and I have to put the ole defense back onz

Evolution is real, and your nephew needs better things to learn from.

This board said head start doesn't work and kids are dumb bc their families are stupid.

So if you don't know if it's a problem, sorry your family IS the problem.

This isn't a evolution thread more like a conspiracy thread why is this kid believing a theory through a cartoon? is this subliminal messaging?

Well evolution seems to make sense and is as far as I can tell 100% real.

Maybe he is trying to explain evolution to you. Probably embarrassed to have such an uncle.

Kind of the same for me. I grew up in a devout Catholic family, but learned evolution and just assumed everyone agreed with the theory. Adam and Evening was just one of the stories in the Bible that you couldn't take at face value and just needed to use as a good life lesson. Wasn't until I really started reading here that some people flat out thought it was complete crap (I can always admit there may be some small shortcomings where we haven't filled all gaps, but it is by no means a baseless theory). Then started realizing more people I knew personally are pretty much straight bible. Interesting to say the least and kind of scary.

As far as the Pokémon angle, the game probably just utilized what it saw from nature to describe the storyline of the game. Your nephew probably just recognized that from things he's learned and used it as a tool to better understand evolution. I'd be concerned if he thinks it's real, but if he's just relating to it, then so be it.

Natural selection, the base scientific concept behind evolution, is absolutely proven. It's pretty easy to argue evolution after citing those studies

Yes. He is spending way too much time playing video games and not near enough time studying the scripture and praying

Level of your concern should depend on his age

Maybe he just wants to be the very best, like no one ever was

It's better he believes in evolution because of Pokémon, than not believing in evolution because of a different made up story.

Theory of evolution is not a concern. It is irrelevant. Unless we start getting X-Men people no one is going to care and it won't matter.

Course the genetic design stuff people are doing now could matter.
