MSNBC's Bashir Says Someone Should Defecate on Sarah Palin. Later apologizes

I'm not even going to comment. What else is there to say about MSNBC?

quote:

MARTIN BASHIR: We end this week in the way it began -- with America’s resident dunce, Sarah Palin, scraping the barrel of her long deceased mind, and using her all time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt.

It'll be like slavery. Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it's hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history. So here's an example: One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750 and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation.

What is most shocking about Thistlewood's diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime. In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby catched [sic] eating canes; had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, S-H-I-T in his mouth. This became known as Darby's dose, a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of the slave owners savagery and inhumanity.

And he mentions a similar incident again in 1756, this time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. Flogged Punch well and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper. Made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth. I could go on, but you get the point.

When Mrs. Palin invoked slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms that if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, then she would be the outstanding candidate.

Here's the apology:

quote:

Last Friday, on this broadcast, I made some comments which were deeply offensive and directed at Governor Sarah Palin. I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers, and anyone who may have heard what I said.

My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics, and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. And at a place where we try every day to elevate political discourse and to focus on issues that matter to all of us.

You've heard of ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome). Clearly, Bashir has PDS. I didn't even think Palin's slavery analogy was offensive, especially considering all the qualifiers she included with it.

I've never seen anything that drives libs into a blind, homicidal rage more than simply saying the name Sarah Palin. It's very interesting and kinda sad that they can't just ignore her.

Seriously. And believe me, I'm no fan of Sarah Palin. But Bashir's comments were beyond the pale.

Apologies seem to be the order of the day in Liberal Land.

First, there was Kathleeen Sebelius apologizing for the HobamaCare website,

Then Obama himself apologizing,

Alec Baldwin calls someone a cocksucker and said, I didn't mean to offend gays,

Then that wacko mayor of Toronto apologizes about everything over and over, now

MSNBC host apologizes.

So there you go, conservatives... just say whatever you feel like saying, and then apologize later, All will be forgiven.

Does Bashir not realize that the concept of slavery has many other connotations other than the European Colonial slave trade?

Maybe Sarah is into that. Some people are. Maybe he has some inside info about what she likes.

That's the problem with making everything not politically correct. Eventually no one can say anything. People put wat too much power in words.

So I guess that answers that old question about the tree falling and does it make a sound if nobody was there to hear it.

Or maybe somebody read about it. Because nobody is really stupid enough to watch that idiot.

What's awesome, is he made reference to slavery in much the same manner a couple of yrs ago.

quote:

June 2011, introducing a story on Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum signing “a pledge on upholding traditional marriage,” Bashir teased, “Did two Republican hopefuls really sign a pledge suggesting a return to the days of slavery?”

Is it a requirement that you have to be a sociopath to be a left-wing commentator?

The Left appears to be very unhappy these days.

I will say this, though. I heard his apology, and if it was sincere, then I was actually impressed. He SEEMED genuinely contrite and remorseful.
