Southfront
Pretty significant victory, at least for Iraq. We did have our air power there but Iraqi military did it with their own boots on the ground. Old Mosul was last remaining part of Mosul to be freed.

Sounds like Trump's plan is working - let the locals solve the problems and help them to do that.

You forgot to thank the US Special Forces.

Would there have been an isis if we never invaded Iraq?

Would have been a better title. I'll change

They are there also helping advise them. I believe they are actually doing more frontline action in Raqqa.

They're mostly British trained and American equipped, and we created the power vacuum. So it's a fair question and the answer is probably "no".

Like the Zen master says, we'll see...

Excellent.
This will be a shot in the arm to the Iraqi forces.

No, at least not in Iraq

Well, Saddam was kind of his own ISIS.

The better/more contemporary question is would ISIS been an issue if Obama had not left Iraq wide open to insurrection?

That power vacuum was going to happen no matter which president pulled the troops out.

Wrong, Saddam was the one who for years eradicated groups like ISIS.
Say what you want about him, but the guy was the Michael Jordan of killing Islamic radicals.

Iraqi special forces are impressive. Groups like ISIS their days are numbered.

We had to leave eventually
The problem was being there in the first place. We removed the Devil we knew for the unknown, and all over an unsettled father/son score and oil prices.

Then he suddenly became a tyrant.
It's all very coincidental folks. Nothing to see here.

I meant that they were both brutal Sunnis.

I don't think you will find many who don't understand that the US broke the region into pieces . But that doesn't negate the events of the present, or the need to live in the present.
