More US Blood and Trea$ure being sent to Afghanistan. Why?

The military industrial complex will tell us:
Because, ISIS!
As they continue to gorge themselves on money and human capital that is sorely needed at home.
Meanwhile, like everywhere else in the Middle East we are engaged in a campaign that has no endgame.
Good thing we are raising the debt ceiling yet again under this "conservative" administration

To remain the dominant world power the US must continue to project force in that area of the world. That is just the way geopolitics works today.

Where are you seeing this? Are you just speculating? What are the terms of the troop increase?

Actually the Taliban, but okay.

That we are still there is indefensible, but the poppy....uh, I mean, spice, must flow.

I believed this in the early 2000's.

The only way sending more over there is with a definite end game plan. Just sending more without an exit game is bs

I could swear that Eurocat was Joe Lieberman if he wasn't living in Estonia.

If that's what's required, then I'm fine with letting someone else take the lead for a while.

The huge glut of worldwide petroleum supply makes the MiddleEast irrelevant in Geopolitical terms today.
Perhaps we should be addressing our domestic problems rather than squandering hunderds of billion$ of borrowed money in a part of the world where we are universally reviled.
I'm just sayin...

To be fair, that is not the pertinent resource in Afghanistan. That would be precious minerals and poppy plants.

I prefer not to have to learn Mandarin or Russian, thank you.

You think the only thing keeping the red horde at bay is a few thousand troops in Afghanistan?

Eurocat seems like a pretty decent guy, but he has the worst politics - socially progressive, fiscally liberal, and highly interventionist.

Dealing oil in dollars is critical in keeping the dollar the world's currency. When countries refuse to do this, we have to go in and "straighten them out."

I'm socially in between. I am with Trump and the right wing regarding what has happened for the last week. Don't have a problem with gays marrying....but don't think bakers should be forced to bake their cakes, etc.
But yeah, internationally sign me up with Lieberman and fiscally with Bernie.
Damn I wish those two were President. Oh well.
