And Sessions is the biggest cheerleader of all for this. Thanks Trump !

Agents under its instruction are asked to weigh the competing priorities of law enforcement versus financial profit and to “not waste instigative time and resources” on assets it calls “liabilities” — which include properties that are not profitable enough for the federal government to justify seizing. “As a general rule, if total liabilities and costs incurred in seizing a real property or business exceed the value of the property, the property should not be seized,” the document states.
This part isn't the problem. It's common sense not to assume a financial burden by hauling off the four junkers on blocks in the front yard.

The handbook acknowledges that civil forfeiture can be used to take property from a person even when there’s not enough evidence for a criminal indictment.
THIS part is a huge problem, and I wish more people paid attention to it.

He's made up for it by deporting "the bad ones" and staying out of Colorado IMO.

This sounds more like a business than it does law enforcement.

Toddy,
1. Do you think I voted for Trump or supported him?
2. Do you think I supported his choice for AG?

I also rather enjoy the part about the EPA doing Phase I assessments on properties before they determine if they are going seize or not
What sort of context is that in?
Posted on 10/20/17 at 3:46 pm to upgrayedd
to make sure there aren't any issues that would affect the value of the property
Posted on 10/20/17 at 3:52 pm to SlowFlowPro
No, I mean why they would be seizing property. I've done my fair share of Phase I's.
Posted on 10/20/17 at 3:56 pm to upgrayedd
the EPA?
they're not taking the property. they're helping out agencies that are taking the property by doing the assessments

Ah, makes sense now.
That's a pretty sophisticated forfeiture system

No different then someone ghosting property before they steal it.
