It's just comical.

Some of you guys laugh (rightfully) when white christians claim they are oppressed, but when an NFL player or NBA player making 2.5 mill+/year kneels against a system he feels is oppressing him, he is a brave soul.

Give me a break.

Someone earning more money than 99.9% of americans is by definition not oppressed.

These guys aren't special, either. If these athletes want to make a true difference, they should stop pretending they are the exception, and instead tell kids with their similar backgrounds that hard work is the ingredient to everything.

i'm sure they all know somebody who is though... it's like you expect them to forget where they came from

If you come from a poor inner city black precinct or a dirt poor Appalachian small town, you have to be willfully ignorant to think the majority of your problems come from the system rather than from bad cultural decisions/trends.

Most of these athletes have never had a real job & have been catered to & coddled their whole lives. Athletes routinely have their transcripts altered and are given passing grades even if they don't show up or sleep through class. If they didn't win the genetic lottery of physical attributes, most of them would amount to nothing. Like most liberals, the system these people bitch about is the system that allows them to have cushy lives & gives them the right to bitch in the first place. The common folk of America should boycott all professional sports just to show them their true worth.

Many of them have no idea of the pulse of the nation and end up in west/left coast teams mirroring the politics of that state.

Man you guys are ignorant. Whenever I want a short-sighted slanted point of view which is extra insensitive to any minority; this place is my go to.

The fact you never complain about billionaire and millionaire white polititicans and businessmen doing the same thing, but are up in arms now makes the hypocrisy even funnier.

Most of them came from that exact system, you think because they found a way out they forgot? Or they don't the right to speak to it? This post is dumb, you usually do better.

I don't like the kneeling but I don't think it is a statement about the system oppressing THEM specifically.

What do they express with their actual money? To his credit I think Kaernick does but for most of this morons this is "Look at me bullshite">

Somebody should ask this low IQ asshats what their end game is. Maybe it is perpetual protests like in St Louis.

The kneeling has more to do with the injustice system, dumbass. Cops killing unarmed people at will, harrassment, arrest rates and longer sentences for same or less crimes as whites.

Seek to understand before trying to be understood.

I don't know. Obviously a good number buy toys and houses. I guess your point is that they should contribute more back into their communities. I wouldn't argue against that. Then again, I don't handle their money so I don't know where it goes. Odd follow up to my post.

Maybe not, but that's what the avg sports fan might see.

It's a bit of a risky business decision to (intentional or not) anger your customers. The players certainly have the right to their own opinions. But without the fans, there is no NFL, NBA, MLB as we know it.

You, me, all of us have our own opinions about everything. But we (at least I do) try to keep our individual thoughts from our clients/customers who may have differing opinions because it could be bad for business.

I'm not arguing about any of that. I guess my point is that this thread was built on a pretty weak premise.
