Militarily, could Texas win a war with Mexico without US support.

One of the multiple reasons Texas decided to become a state with the US was due to the possible threat of Mexican military invasion.
If Texas were to secede, would they be able to fight off Mexico. Also a few other notes
1) Would Texas still use US currency or create their own.
2) Technically they would be a foreign country, so would what this do to GOP in the electoral college.
3) Since they are a border state, would conservatives finally stop complaining about immigration and focus on other issues, even if the lack of immigrants may not significantly effect the average working class persons life?

Of course they could because there would be a million volunteers flocking to the Lone Star colors to fight.
Yee-haaww.
Well, maybe not a million, but, I'll bet tens of thousands.

Assuming the Texas NG got to keep all their military equipment, then yes easily.
If not? Not so much.

They'd have to win a war against the United States first. So Id assume they could take Mexico after
US isn't letting anyone leave with our military tech. They would have to fight to keep it, if they were allowed to leave it would be without it and their chances against Mexico would not be as favorable

If Texas were able to retain federal military assets that currently reside in Texas, then yeah, sure.

38 electoral votes would be lost.

Conservatives are complaining about illegal immigration not necessarily legal immigration except when H1B visas are abused.

MX 127M
TX 28M

OUCH.
Is it possible the GOP could ever win another election with Texas?

You guys have an entire Infantry Division. Like I said, assuming it's peaceful and the US lets you guys keep your gear or sells it to you, you'd steamroll them.

not a shot. northern mexico would return to the mexicans. i mean shite, you drive around houston and you see more fricking spanish than english. pretty much is mexico at this point.
not to mention the mass amounts of messicants that already live behind enemy lines. they would be sabotaging everything before Hank Hill could fill a single propane tank.

Texas has a lot of Nukes.
The Pantex Plant is the primary United States nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility that aims to maintain the safety, security and reliability of the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile. The facility is located on a 16,000 acre site northeast of Amarillo, in Carson County, Texas in the Panhandle of Texas.

And they have
Beltrán-Leyva Cartel
La Familia Michoacana/Knights Templar Cartel
Gulf Cartel
Juárez Cartel
Sinaloa Cartel
Tijuana Cartel
Los Zetas
All locked, all loaded, all experienced in guerilla warfare. No muy bueno
And btw, this is assuming we are using only Texans and Mexicans, not infantrymen from any bases, etc.

Mexico doesn't even have control of their own states outside of some heavily defended tourist areas and Mexico City.

Personally, I see a split occuring. I dont see them keeping the south plains and the bottom half of the gulf coast.
And by 'no US support' I mean Texas has to field a military by itself.
People have to decide if they are going to be US soldiers stationed in Texas or Texas Republic Soldiers. You cant be a member of two different nations military power.
