U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will travel to South Korea on Sunday in what his aides said was a sign of the U.S. commitment to its ally in the face of rising tensions over North Korea's nuclear program. Pence's Seoul stop kicks off a long-planned 10-day trip to Asia - his first as vice president - and comes amid concerns that Pyongyang could soon conduct its sixth nuclear test. President Donald Trump has warned against further provocations, sending an aircraft carrier group to the region as a show of force. His officials have been assessing tougher economic sanctions as well as military options to curb North Korea's nuclear ambitions.

I said it a couple of days ago:

trump and Xi have agreed to terms of what the korean peninsula will look like...have to get south korea on board b/c china will likely want some of that land, resources, etc. (which is still worth it for s korea and the world)

If Trump going to FL alone and Pence going to Seoul are setups for a surprise attack, those are goddamned good setups.

I'd be worried this would trigger Kim to try and lob a nuke at Seoul - he's backed into a pretty tight corner and he doesn't really have any good options right now.

His only option is to not do anything. He doesn't have it in him to do anything to Seoul.

This Pence trip is part of a 10 day trip to places all over that part of the world. That is all.

So, in other words, we are about to let China accomplish its 1950's goals on the Korean peninsula??? Whats a few thousand billions among friends, right?

Pence going on Sunday and Air China is suspending flights starting on Monday. I wonder what might happen next week?

I hadn't heard about that. Whatever President Trump told Premier Xi during his visit regarding NK, Xi and China are taking it to heart and taking action (suspending flights, refusing coal shipments).

Is this the most significant response from China we've since regarding North Korea?

All stating a war gets Kim is dead. Seems the worse option of all.

Absolutely. China was already a potential threat, albeit 100X more sane than the leadership of NK. Let China have a portion, SK gets the rest. Just move the DMZ farther North, and throw a party that fat boy is history.

PS - China, South Korea and America need to have a financial plan in place, though. NK is like a 3rd World country compared to SK. If I were Trump, this might be the one & only time I put the squeeze on the United Nations & make this a combined effort of as many nations as possible.

Talking about the financial burden only. Because if I'm SK, there's no way I'm taking on the burden of NK alone.
