Michael Bloomberg's War On Pro-gun Democrats

LINK /

quote:

"It's just an outrage. The public ought to stand up," said Bloomberg, who is worth an estimated $25 billion. "I'm part of the public and I happen to have some money. That's what I am trying to do with my money — trying to get us some sensible gun laws."

Bloomberg's super PAC, Independence USA, reportedly has spent $2 million on TV commercials and ad time against Debbie Halvorson, one of the many Democrats seeking the U.S. House seat in Chicago vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr. Halvorson, a former congresswoman, once received an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association. . . . . . .

The special election in Chicago is the first opportunity for Bloomberg's super PAC to weigh in since 20 children and six educators were gunned down in Newtown, Conn., in December. In the 2012 elections, the group spent more than $8 million to help supportive candidates and defeat others, such as pro-gun Democrat Joe Baca.

I would think that folks would resent a rich outsider like Bloomberg going around the country and interfering in their local politics, so I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

I doubt he'd really like it if the people stood up and said what they think. I would venture most people are going to vote with the constitution and enforcing current laws rather than creating an even greater bureaucracy

I have no problem with people spending their own personal money to support their political cause.

ETA: Even if I don't share the cause
