This dude is the epitome of the hipster millennial culture:

- cucked
- faux intellectual
- deceptive
- relies on other peoples money

Pretty dead on. This describes today's current effeminate liberal SJW white male. They make me completely sick. They all strive to be DIFFERENT but they all ending looking the same. The Obamacare Pajama Boy ad turned out to the be greatest example of what we are dealing with in this situation.

People don't like to hear it but Christianity at least Western Christianity has become Cucked.
You should better word that. Anything that becomes cucked in the implied way is by that very nature not Christianity. People who claim to be Christians might become cucked; Christianity doesn't change bc Christ doesn't change bc our heavenly father and creator doesn't change.

god's word says go to church. i'm not calling you out.

I respect your and Foo's opinions.
When Jesus said "on this rock I will build my church." I don't recall him telling Peter to go cut timber or Paul to go carve stone to build a physical church.
I go to church quite often and it is in the Natural Beauty of His Creation and not mans million dollar structures with preachers driving Lexus's.

I also donate to charities probably more than most people tithe. Just ask my wife.
I am glad Christianity has progressed to the point that unlike some other religions i could be killed for interpreting the word differently.

hebrews 10:25 is not my opinion. it is god's command to fellowship with other believers and to corporately worship. did you know that confession was a part of the earliest worship services in accordance with james 5:16. how are you supposed to do that when you aren't in meetings with other believers?

quote:

I don't recall him telling Peter to go cut timber
that makes no sense. peter was the rock. meaning, meeting with peter, et al, IS the church.

quote:

Paul to go carve stone to build a physical church
did you know that paul's mission included regular synagogue attendance? acts 17:2

quote:

first, you have once again set up a false dilemma. you can worship through general revelation AND at church. it's not an either/or. it's both/and. second, not all churches are like you describe. there are PLENTY of churches that are being well run by genuine evangelicals that emphasize tithing, missions and evangelism.

quote:

I also donate to charities probably more than most people tithe
you say this like it's a good thing

Then you've got the abominations like Westboro Baptist.

Westboro isn't a church, its a family that calls itself a church for the tax exempt status. I hate how the media doesn't acknolwedge this.

Catholicism in its entirety is undermined by the story of the Pentinent Thief aka Saint Dismas.

Change my mind.

Eh the old testament God (flood the earth to kill all sinners) seems a ton different than the new testament God (give my only son up as a sacrifice for forgiveness of all the new sinners that showed up after I flooded the place)

Seems like if it is the same guy he had a change of heart at some point, quit wiping out entire populations and brought in a new option other than turn em to salt then burn their eternal spirit in hellfire.

Churches used to be thermostats. Now they're just thermometers.

God doesn’t change and His plan for His creation never changed. Christ was promised in Genesis 3 as the seed of the woman who would crush the serpent’s head. The Old Testament was one story and law after another pointing to Christ in types and shadows.

Christ didn’t teach anything new, either. He clarified what the scribes and Pharisees missed from the Old Testament. He taught to love God and love your neighbor. What was that? It was a summary of the 10 commandments. I could go on and on but God is the same.

Also, when Christ returns again, the world will be destroyed with fire and made again, perfect and without sin. Sounds like some Old Testament stuff.

My personal favorite is from the Gospel of Thomas, not in your Bible: "the Kingdom of God is within you and all around you. It is not within buildings of wood and stone. Split a piece of wood and you will find me. Look beneath a stone and I am there."

The Gospel of Thomas is full of Gnostic heresy. There's a reason it's not canon.

Also, why did Jesus bother to establish a Church if it wasn't important?

EXACTLY! Christ is the Scarlet Thread of Redemption theme throughout the Old and New Testaments. So He is the central theme of the NT and second to Him only is THE CHURCH! Every writer was a Church man! Most of the New Testament was addressed to local CHURCHES.

If a 'christian" doesn't go to church, it's simply because they don't love the Lord enough to do what he said.

Unless you are a postmillennialist, who believes that Christianity wins on earth before the end times.

I believe that America is entering a post-Christian time. Not sure we will go the way of 18th century France of 20th century Russia, but Christian worldviews are going to be challenged. And the fault of it lies on the church.

Apologies brother:

That sounds like 1 John to me.

It is. 1 John 2:19.

John 2:19 is
quote:

19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Also, what exactly makes a church a "Mega Church"? Simply having X number of members? Having multiple campuses? What makes a church a "Mega Church"?

Because my church has about 30,000 members, but I would in no way consider it a "Mega Church."
