This was a narrative sold to us by the establishment. The knew that someone had to take the fall for this failure. They smartly picked McCain. A virtual dead man.

It's always phrased that way. Any of the others who voted 'no' could have also been the deciding vote. None of them grandstanded and made a scene about their vote as far as I know, so I'm fine with McCain getting the label.

I agree that we get distracted by the marginal vote. This relies on a belief that all of the yes votes were genuine, and I do not share that belief.
Would all those have voted "yes" if their "no" was needed to stop it?

He wasn't. It was only through Susan Collins' bravery, and Lisa Murkowski's bravery, that McCain's vote mattered.

I think the ones who didn't vote for total repeal should take the fall.

McCain not voting for skinny repeal is just a shiny trinket they want us to look at.

Correct. It didn't take a lot of arm-twisting. He gave cover to the others that would have voted against it, but can say they voted for it in their Senate elections next year.

Of course, they will have a hard time explaining not voting for straight repeal with 2 year "replace" period.

You mean the staged political theater didn't reveal the intricacies of the sausage making process?

Well if that is true, then why did this board full of "geniuses" buy it hook line & sinker?

completely agree, the senator from WV,Jeff Flake,Rob Portman,Lisa frickyouoski,Heller, and a few others wanted this thing dead, they hate the house for getting a bill to them, it showed for the world to see, that these were all talk no action senator's...Trump was right all along, all talk no action..The crazy thing is the GOPe would rather lose then win with Trump that has been my belief from the get go...

I believe that is a lie, I believe Portman,Lisa M.,FLake,Ole Linsey and Heller all knew what was going on and a few more...I give Collins credit really, she at least had the nerve or backbone to be on record during the other repeal votes to side with Obamacare, the others are complete and utter liars. Reason the congress is held in very low esteem now days, they are not to be trusted. Plus, how is it that congress has a wavier from being on Obamacare, how is that even possible. Congress and their staffs should be on it, just like everybody else is, complete B.S. I read to today Fed employee's do not have SS coming out of their paycheck's, how the hell is that possible...

I believe it. There is no two party system, there is only the bank.

Maybe if anything this presidency will show the real power behind the paper thrown. Most of Washington is bought and paid for and the ones that aren't are compromised.

Then decided with such conviction that he participated in political theater , then when and yucked it up with the Democrats after voting. Not hardly man, even you are smarter than this.
