Making abortion a criminal offense would cause more unwanted children

From a moral standpoint, I'm not a supporter of babies being killed inside the womb. But if we're being honest, many abortions are carried out by people who cannot afford to have a child and probably should never have a child.
Why do we want our society to be burdened by more children who aren't going to be raised (in any meaningful way) by anyone?
Do we want abortion to be outlawed in some states because of the ethics argument alone? I guess I can accept that, but I think it's obvious what the consequences of that will be.

End "entitlements" and force these people to pay for their mistakes, and a promise you that "unwanted" pregnancies will stop.

Why do you think this? I'm honestly curious. I'm a Christian and I think a fetus in the first trimester is not a living person.

Criminalize unprotected sex by the unwed. Oh yeah, we can't do that any more because Kennedy woke up and decided that Lawrence v. Texas should overturn over 200 years of law and the balance of state power.

Many abortions are carried out because they're available. If you remove that option, perhaps men and women would be a little more cautious.

if you and you're spouse dont make 100,000k a year then you should have penalties if you have over 2 kids. if you make under 50k household income you can only have 1 kid.

Jailing people for murder and rape is a significant cost to the government. Not everything is strictly about money.

Because we've established so many safety nets for people who have never learned to act responsibly. There will never be any incentive for them to be responsible.
