Another proposed cut would eliminate a $73 million program called Sea Grant, which supports coastal research conducted through 33 university programs across the country. That includes institutions in many swing states that went for President Trump, such as the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, the University of Florida and North Carolina State University.

What is stopping these places from getting creative in their ways to raise funds?

And it's pretty fricking important for a coastal state to do coastal research at its state university.

The federal govt doesn't give a penny to LSU football. LSU can pay for their own sea grant or drop it.

I almost forgot. LSU doesn't pay for college football. It's one of only 4 teams that is totally self supporting. In fact, LSU football contributes money to the academic programs.

Well then you have the contributions of this program right at your fingertips I presume?

Results would be relevant. Bitching about cutting a program without knowing what it has produced is just bitching

Which is it?

Nothing I suspect LSU will be funded very differently in the next 5-10 years

Yeah, spending $500,000 to see how fast and far a frigging shrimp can swim? That wasn't nothing but brother-in-law money for someone with a sob story for unnecessary research.
