I say tax every unit of energy leaving our "State" borders - i.e. all flow on interstate pipelines.

If you could maintain control that would be one hell of a pay check. Shell has a major pump station that monitors flow from offshore to the north right down from my office here in Houma.

I can see it now. 20,000 bass boats with .30-06's staving off a couple of destroyers and a few Los Angela's class ballistic subs.

Seriously though if the US military fired upon one of the states do any of you not think that act in itself would lead to massive rebellion and military defection?

Why would they fire upon a state?

It depends on what a state or it's citizens did I guess? I need more specifics?

Yes sir bayoudude it is maintained and is controlled - right down to every decatherm/therm of gas. It is all very controlled. Like any product payment is required and therefore is accounted for to the -nth degree - especially energy. I have worked on a corporate energy trade floor.. and had to account for every therm bought and flowed - every day. There isn't a single therm that goes unaccounted for. It is sewn up tighter than a bug's ass. If I even farted on the trade floor they would want accounting for it. (Instead of a "ugas" loss factor I guess it would be a "fgas" loss factor - haha - inside joke).

"Louisiana needs the U.S. more than the U.S. needs Louisiana "

Not if Louisiana didn't have to support the useless anymore, they wouldn't. No government money would be needed, especially after the state gets to keep all the offshore drilling and oil revenues, add on top of that the potential to join other conservative southern states to make a more perfect union with the same conservative principles, I think we would be fine.
P.S. - throw in the fact that we could finally shut down the border to stop the influx of more takers along those certain state's borders.

And if there is, call it a line loss..... Sorry, but there are several flaws in that statement. You are generally correct, but not technically. Accuracy in measurement is the biggest factor.

And we will never recover from the next hurricane without federal response or cheap, willing labor.

Fat chance, those are federal waters you are drilling in. No revenue from anything more than 3 miles out.

They would become Federal waters of the new nation that bordered them.
