...Hey...it's over! Move on...
Now, I do think it's effed up that the ONLY public office in our country not decided by a vote, is the presidency....the 'electoral college' is totally screwed up. Why is a vote in Montana weighed MUCH heavier than a vote in California?
The ONLY way we go to a straight popular vote...is when republican gets screwed by that college.
But...I guess in that situation, the Dems may not want to change it b/c they would be the benefactors...not the screwed over folks.

Doctors aren't necessarily good at math. In fact, few probably are.

Remember, we are a union of states, not subjects of a single national entity. If you want to abolish the EC, why not abolish the senate also and just go with a single legislature?

You really have no clue what the founding fathers had in mind, do you?

The truth is if your ready is that the states between California and New York would not long stand for having them decide who is President for years to come.

Ok, so the pop vote in LA, NY, and CHI should dictate the presidential election for the whole country?

This is like deciding who wins football games based on how many yards a winning team can get or how many rebounds a team gets in basketball.

You cant have a popular vote where 2 states will basically vote in a democrat every four years which is what you would have. its the only reason crooked hillary has a lead in the popular vote;just look at the voting map. the whole damn thing is practically red except for the heavly populated metro areas.

The Electoral College is much more in line with our coalition of states and allotting all states a sizeable say in our Republic. Our founding fathers were wise to put in place a Representative Government further limiting a mob rule Democracy by drafting the Constitution. This was a very wise construct and the Electoral College is yet another safeguard in the anti-mob rule motif with states having their say in the matter. As much as the 10th Amendment is overlooked and the Federal Government usurps power from the States, this is one way the States retain a good portion of their say in the government as was originally intended.

well
if you can get 34 states AND 67 Senators AND 290 members of the House to support it
well, then by damn, you absolutely CAN set it up like that!

compare the voting map with crime maps.
WHOOPS... hard to tell the two apart.
interesting.
yet the dems continue to hold their noses up....

The electoral college is weighted for the population of each state.
Montana has 3 votes and California has 59. A voter in a heavily populated state should only impact their own state.
