Never heard of this guy before, but I hope we hear more. Interesting take on sunnis, shia, kurds, etc. And doesn't hold back on the Koran. When he speaks of fiqh, he is talking about how one would interpret or understand the Koran. Amazingly, he says that Islam being a religion of peace is bullshite.

quote:

Ayad Jamal Aldin is a young Shia cleric, best known for his consistent campaigning for a new, secular Iraq. He first rose to prominence at the Nasiriyah conference in March 2003, shortly before the fall of Saddam Hussein, where he called for a state free of religion, the turban and other theological symbols.

Very interesting clip and will be interesting to hear opinions of others. He seems fearless, which means he's living a life of risk.

If you have time, watch it to the end. That's when he's most candid about the Koran.

The Koran is only one of three holy books. Not only do you have to submit to Allah but you have to live according to how Muhammad lived. Muhammad wasn't very peaceful after he left Mecca and got to Medina.

A voice of reason and truth in a land of fanaticism. Brave man. True leader. God bless him.
