Legalizing Prostitution In New Orleans

Reading Zach's post about prostitution in Shreveport got me thinking. This might be a good way for NOLA to get additional tax revenue. It's legal in Nevada (although not Las Vegas), and doesn't appear to generate any problems. And...New Orleans has always been known for it's "live and let live" attitude.

Thoughts?

It would have to be done at the state level.

Good luck getting the Bible beating frickers that N. Louisianan's put into office to vote for that.

ETA: What I mean is that the state legislature would have to allow NOLA to legalize it, not that the entire state legalize it.

Should not be illegal anywhere.

OK I got you. I guess it's like a state repealing prohibition, then allowing local municipalities to allow alcohol.
That's a shame. Legal prostitution would do well in NOLA.

Oh we can't have that. It would doom New Orleans to becoming one of the seediest, dirtiest, most morally bankrupt cities in the US.

Wait, what's that you say? It's already last?

Well then fuggit. Make it so. Let's take what's left of Nevada's tourist revenue.

While prostitution is technically illegal in the Vegas valley, you will notice a plethora of "foot massage" (cough cough) places.

Does it matter if it's a little less than a foot?

heres a thought. how about leaving people alone to make their own decisions as long as they dont harm others rather than how it might affect taxes.

re: Legalizing Prostitution In New Orleans
you have no idea what my beliefs are.

let me get this straight. you take the position that 2 consulting adults shouldn't be able to have sex for a few bucks? do you also support banning drunk one night stands? what about someone in dire need of a drug that are might or might not work but its their only hope and the FDA wont allow them to take it because it hasnt gone through the billion dollar / 10 year approval process? do you approve of that?
