That's a hell of a pink sweater on pink shirt on navy blue blazer combo. I'm going to copy that look.

That's not a good thing. We need to stay the frick out of the affairs of other countries.

Spending money we don't have to make the largest military in the world even larger. Perfect.

I'm cool with a bigger Navy. Probably need to downsize the Army and air force though.

I recently learned in a briefing that Army end-strength will be increased by 28,000 by the end of this fiscal year.

The "Obama Drawdown" is over.

Why? We already have, by far, the world's largest navy and it has been many decades since a large navy was called for.

By far? It's larger than the rest of the world's Navy combined

The Army, and particularly, Marine Corp Aviation have been hit the hardest, they need real attention. The Navy shouldn't have retired the U.S.S Enterprise, at least not when it did. We are the world's police, like it or not, and need more worldwide capability from our Navy.

ETA: The Navy's F-18 E/F needs upgrading to keep up with the Russian Sukhoi SU-30 series fighters.

Size =\= capability. In your opinion does today's Navy seem fit for the S. China Sea/Straits of Hormuz/Sea of Japan?

We can argue about whether our interests truly lie in those areas, but to equate present mass with superior capabilities across the globe is foolish. Your line of thinking is analogous to the interwar militaries that were satisfied with a "big enough" stable of cruisers and battleships. Acquisition reform is certainly needed, but so is thorough appraisal and expansion of our Navy.

Well that's just wrong. Our everyday normal operations require a large Navy.

I spent most of my day working over in Hampton Roads today and it was a ghost town with all the federal and military workers here off due to the holiday.

That is old news. They put the bid in over two years ago.

The Navy has been waiting for them to fix the problems with the Air Craft carriers.

Why doesn't the military use its own people to build their own ships? May be a dumb question
