Trump Wins The Unions: Teamsters Praise TPP Withdrawal, Labor Chiefs Describe "Incredible" Meeting With Trump

Link

Shortly after Donald Trump made good on one of his core campaign promises on Monday morning by signing an executive order formally withdrawing the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade deal, Trump told labor union leaders that he would renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement "at the appropriate time."

The remarks came at the start of a meeting at the White House with leaders of construction, carpenters, plumbers and sheet metal unions, during which Trump pledged to stop trade deals that harmed American workers.

According to the White House, participants included North America's Building Trades Unions President Sean McGarvey, Laborers' International Union of North America President Terry O'Sullivan, SMART sheet metal workers' union President Joseph Sellers, United Brotherhood of Carpenters President Doug McCarron and Mark McManus, president of the United Association that represents plumbers, pipefitters, welders and others. The union meeting also included several local union officials and follows a gathering of 12 chief executives of large companies at the White House to discuss revitalizing the U.S. manufacturing economy.

From Zerohedge, which isn't great, but is significantly more credible than Buzzfeed or CNN.

If the liberals lose the unions you can all but kiss the Democratic Party good bye. All that is left is small factions of 1%er's freaks.

They'll still have the public sector unions, which make up the vast majority of union members.

Their numbers will thin as Trump cuts the bureaucracy.

It does not surprise me. Trump has been dealing with union guys his entire life. He knows how to speak their language because he has been in the construction business and knows the difference between a crescent wrench and a monkey wrench.

Trust me , those guys respect that.....Could you see Hillary talking about plumbing or electrical?

Me neither

And how many of them would have voted for Trump anyway?

He was already losing their votes because he called them out before he ever got elected.

You know how he's really going to MAGA? He's going to provide more opportunities and encouragement for people to get themselves back to work rather than give them handouts. People will have pride in themselves again and will have pride in their country. Handouts do not give pride, but pity and humiliation. They certainly don't make people feel patriotic.

As much as I dislike unions, I'm glad they seem to be jumping on board the Trump train.

Maybe BO sensed this coming, and that's why he enjoys having so many people not laboring.

F unions ... particularly public sector.

An individual should stand on his own feet/merits...and for the producers, they will do better.
