Julian Assange Praises Rand Paul Libertarians

LINK /

quote:

The Wikileaks founder then addressed a follow-up question about former Congressman Ron Paul and current Senator Rand Paul, remarking, “I’m a big admirer of Ron Paul and Rand Paul for their very principled positions in the US Congress on a number of issues,” noting that they have been “the strongest supporters of the fight against the US attack on Wikileaks and on me.”

From a PR standpoint, no. But it's pretty telling that Julian Assange cares more about Americans' civil liberties than most Americans themselves do.

Well, Hugo Chavez, and even Al Qaida have expressed support for Obama. I think the "friends" thing is a moot point nowadays.

Sad, but true.

This is the problem.

I don't necessarily agree with his personal activities but I can't deny that Assange has an important message.

The dumb masses who can't separate the message from the messenger however may hold a
permanently damaged view of him, you know, of being an accused rapist and all.

Not sure, it may be exactly what he needs right now. Will see. I imagine most people who are on the fence about which side they will vote for have no freaking clue who Assange is, or what Wikileaks is all about.

Are these the Mitt Romney-supporting segment of libertarians?

Libertarians are the primary reason a libertarian leaning president will not be elected. I think Libertarians capture the self defeating prophecy perfectly.

I think you are wrong, this helps him with the 18-30 vote , the over 35 vote is pretty much locked in to a type of person they like , but make subtle changes according to the direction of the economy etc. etc.

Please tell me that you aren't saying that Romney was in any way libertarian leaning

As I said in another thread, a libertarian order will never arise due to political means. The only chance at one is through supplanting services that the state provides, such as currency, protection, arbitration, etc.,

A government will not simply give up its power.
