you forgot to mention Trump, the dumbass that he is, didnt tell his joint chiefs he was doing this, they and the pentagon was completely blindsided by this. so he lied when he said he had talked to generals.

I still find it hard to believe T's in the military has been a substantial issue. I do understand the argument for banning them, but how big of an issue is it really?

Based on statements from Mattis & Dunford, it seems like they weren't the ones who made the recommendation. After re-reading Trump's statement, that seems all the more likely.

Not experts in the military, but rather, "military experts"...that could be anyone. Especially in this white house, where Seb Gorka is considered an expert.
Feels more and more like a political move rather than a military strategy based decision.

"About 250 troops have officially come out as transgender since the Obama administration lifted the ban on transgender troops in 2016."
This lifted ban was never implemented by Obama or Trump. Mattis stated it would not be implemented until they looked at it further. Mattis said this a month ago.

This is just SOP a needed procedure of most likely paper work and of course red tape-- is awaiting SECDEF. I suppose Mattis and others have to factor in whether current AD trannies are grandfathered in? As well as, a lot of specific policies and regulations.

"We will use this additional time to evaluate more carefully the impact of such accessions on readiness and lethality."
