The gall of these slimy POS angers me.

Gov. John Bel Edwards' administration has presented to senators a grim picture of the fallout from the House-proposed version of next year's budget, with the governor threatening a veto if anything resembling the spending plan reaches his desk.

Over dozens of hours of hearings, agency leaders say they'd have to release prisoners early, shutter health programs and damage critical services in the financial year that begins July 1. House Republican leaders who drew up the plan call that scare tactics and say state government can't afford the spending trajectory proposed by the Democratic governor.

BUDGET DISPUTE

The House passed a budget, opposed by nearly all of its Democratic members, that would leave $206 million on the table, to hedge against GOP leaders' expectations that state income estimates are too rosy.

Appropriations Chairman Cameron Henry, a Republican who had a heavy hand in drafting the House version, predicted agencies would tell lawmakers "the world's going to fall apart" under the scaled-back spending plan. But he said he didn't believe that was true.

Edwards replied that without the money, health services, the child welfare agency and prisons would face unnecessary, harmful cuts.

They paint the worst picture possible, scare folks, and meanwhile the film people, nursing home gang and the special groups lap at the trough.

Edwards wants to increase state spending 400 million dollars and not plan for any shortfalls.

I think it's about time he flew back to Cuba. He's costing us every day he stays home.

One small step would be to stop putting people in jail for weed.

I've never heard of a Democrat using scare tactics to pass a bill? Must be a new strategy for them!

What do you expect from a guy who's been around nothing but government his entire life and never spent any meaningful and significant time in the private sector where you actually have to manage money and budget for it?

What a leader. The only cuts he can make would be letting criminals go and defunding nursing homes. What a joke

Your title is a bit insincere. Nowhere in that article did JBE say anything remotely like your title.

So effectively no new taxes = the status quo. I'll take the status quo.

His Brother Daniel tried a similar tactic here in Tangipahoa Parish if the voters didn't approve building a new jail. He claimed they no choice but to release prisoners. Even though over 60% of the inmates in the jail were state prisoners who the sheriff's office was being paid to house. The voters overwhelmingly rejected the this extortion.

Fits.....

Jindal

to a period. And that's one big reason why he failed as Governor.

Just like how and why JBE is currently failing as Governor too.

Anything else?

Whether you like Jindal or not, his answer to every crisis was not raising taxes.
