The problem is that progressives deny the existence of universally applicable standards except when it suits their goals to have such standards. We have let them get away with this to the point that it's considered awful to want to have borders and bathrooms separated by sex.

I didn't upvote the post but consider that the national reporting of this suicide is every bit as crass as the upvoting of the OP in question.
The suicide is only news for political reasons. There are roughly 120 suicides a day in the US. The only time a suicide is reported nationally is if the person is a person of note. Even murder suicides only garner local coverage.
The reporting of this suicide is nakedly political and gross as we don't know anything about this guy and what caused him to end his life. We know how the reporting of the suicide is being framed, though.
Perhaps many of the upvotes were just posters being smart asses against the crass political angle of the story being reported.

I wouldn't say it's a crazy coincidence that the aforementioned thread currently has 120 likes & 19 dislikes regarding a person who committed suicide. Some of you should really fricking check yourselves.
