It's time for Japan to rearm themselves.

The wounds of World War II have healed long ago. Japan should be encouraged to amend the MacArthur Constitution to remove the article where they denounce war and re-establish an army, navy, air force, etc. The threat of North Korea has been there since the death of Kim Il-sung, but it's more apparent now that Japan needs arm themselves to the extent that the South Koreans have. Should probably stop giving military aid to Israel and shift all that support toward Japan, which is almost a client state of the US like South Korea is.

Japan has one of the strongest militaries in the world. Do you live under a rock by any chance?

To me, it's kind of like trying to get a hardcore alcoholic to drink again. "Hey it's been 20 years since you last drank, time to at least test it again!" Then of course he goes and acts like he did back in the day.

SK doesn't have nukes. This fool truly didn't know that Japan has a military. They call themselves a "self-defence force" but it's a true military force.

Japan doesn't need our support like Israel has needed it. Japan got our support after WWII when the US turned them into an economic powerhouse. Japan is one of our closest allies. We share technology all the time with them.

Their constitution permits defensive capabilities and use only if my understanding is accurate. The OP could be referring no to an offensive constitution amendment.
Of course giving them nukes would certainly encourage China and Russia to do more. I think that's the only thing they understand.

I just assumed Japan would weaponize their underwear vending machines when push came to shove.

And from what I've heard they are very well-trained. Quality over quantity. Any military baws ever worked with them to confirm or deny?

Lol that self defense force? lol
Also, because I think someone else mentioned it, no where in my original post did I say give them nukes. I don't want any other nation to possess them. I'm talking about conventional forces only.

You aren't serious are you?!

You're not a real military until you invade something. I recommend the Japanese go south and claim the Spratly Islands.

I'm not sure as to what you find funny. If you're talking about actives and reserves, look to Japan's lack of conscription for that.
Japan's navy is superior to SK's, as it should, as they are an island nation. Their navy is probably top 5 in the world.
Their air force is similar to SK's and will only be bolstered by the arrival of the F-35s (SK has them coming too). Their electronic warfare, AWACS, and transport assets are all superior to SK's.
Japan doesn't need a large active military or reserve force because they're not immediately threatened by NK. Any threat to Japan will be in the form of ICBMs. They aren't allies with SK so they have no mutual defense obligations to serve in the event of a war. We've been trying to get Japan and the ROK on the same page for some time now but neither country is particularly excited about dealing with one another considering the vast history between the two. I doubt you'll see any type of alliance or mutual defense agreement in the near future. And if war does break out in the Korean Peninsula, you can guarantee that Japan will not be sending boots.

What's not serious about what I said?

Uh... I mean I can just pull pics off of Wikipedia and post them here if you want.

Do people here honestly think Japan doesn't have a military?
