It's not so much about loving Trump, it's about hating leftists

Fred Reed, an ex-pat, a Mexican resident, someone with a fondness for the Mexican people,
and not a Trumpkin, gives his take on the truly screwed up half of America.

Internal Secession and the Road to Ruin: Two Countries
quote:
Trump did not cause the deep division in the country. It caused him. There are two very different Americas. I suspect that the half of the country that voted for Trump, that voted with wild enthusiasm, that roared at huge rallies, was not so much voting for Trump as against the other America. It was just that they had never had a chance before. The two countries have little in common and do not belong on the same geography.
quote:
At the same time we saw on Clinton’s behalf mobs of ill-bred, worse mannered, loutish, perennial adolescents blocking highways, shutting down rallies, engaging in vandalism and physically attacking supporters of Trump. Cars were destroyed, fires set, ATMs smashed. Black Lives Matter, always ghetto predators, were worst, but low-grade college students and their equally dismal professors joined in. They were obscene, infantile.
And naive: They apparently believe that they harm Trump though of course their behavior drives people in the other direction. I am no fan of Donald , but I look the foregoing and think Anything else.
quote:
Different civilizations. Virtually no overlap.
The media are decidedly of the Clinton America. In Washington at least some journalists donned pussy hats and jointed the demonstrators. Trashy behavior has seeped into many in the professional classes. Trump recently sued a journalist and the London Daily Mail for describing Melania as “a high-end escort”–i.e., a take-out call girl, a prostitute. Can you imagine a conservative paper–say, the Washington Times, The American Conservative, National Review–describing Michelle Obama as a whore? Or Trump’s fans wearing scrotal hats?
quote:
As I write Trump’s approval stands at 52%. My guess is that the man’s unending truculence will lower his numbers, but it hasn’t yet. And a complete failure of his presidency will not change the fact that half of the country is thoroughly sick of the other half.

He's been in office less than a month and the narrative has already changed to "We know he's babbling batshit insane but we had to teach you a lesson!"
I thought I was going to have to wait until late 2018, at least, for this.

Pretty much agree. I've never been on the Trump train. But he's better than the alternative, mainly for the Court.

Well damn, that is a pretty interesting viewpoint on the whole situation. I think he pinned the Trump movement pretty accurately.

Nahhh, most people here would perform fellatio on trump if given the opportunity

He hits some of it right on, but this quote points to intolerance. My sister and husband were classic liberals that joined wistfully on the left's wild fringeride. But there's too many things that connect us to have any animosity over our different views. We had a great Christmas.
Hell, on TD I can think a poster is a fricking moonbat here but find common ground on five other boards.

I wish I had wrote that beautiful commentary. Mr. Reed is dead nuts on with his analysis. If the MSM keeps convulsing over the Trump presidency it will be much more than half of the US populace being sick of the Prog/Dim BS, before this is over we'll see 60-70% of the American people shunning the Prog/Dim bowel movement.

Agree. I don't know who the other half of this country is, I can't stand their politics and think they are more akin to wannabe EU members. As a non stereo typical, Trump supporter they sure don't want or care to understand me.

Nah, I think many recognize that he has flaws. It's just that the other side has gotten so bad, that they are willing to put up with those flaws.

No doubt, Trump is a colonoscopy. But sadly, that's what America needs right now.

Hmmm... different color scheme, same concept
I'm good with it

quote:Yes, yes...We get it. You have bought into the propaganda about hating half the country and don't care what "your side" does anymore. We get it. You are a Trump voter and we expect nothing more.
