Israel's border 'wall' the model for Trump, Senate

U.S. officials and lawmakers eager to help President-elect Trump make good on his campaign promise to "build a wall" on the Mexico border are looking to the hastily built fence Israel constructed in just two years to stop the flow of illegal immigrants across its southern border.
The "barrier" fence between Israel and Egypt was built from 2011 to 2013 after thousands of Africans surged in, similar to what is happening on the U.S.-Mexico border now. The fence is made of hard-to-cut metal rods, topped with razor wire and enhanced with technology to identify break-ins.
"It's a very effective fence," said Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
After Trump won. The GOP made it clear they have had funding ready for this for years but it was frozen because of Obama. I can see Trump going with this now; that he sees what is going on. The republicans always had funding and a plan for this. I am still sure the money will be made up for with Mexico in many different ways, from jobs gained back into the US, to border tariffs.

This is key. I think it makes up for it not being this huge solid wall we all envisioned. It seems efficient and it works, that's all that counts.

Yeah. It seems like all the threads on it, or even discussing it were made to just disappear. I had posted about it in the OT thread started wondering why all of their threads about it were nuked like dust. I am guessing that one of the interviewees freaked and got cold feet and RAed. And I don't think it was PeeJ? Who knows?

155 miles of fence is much easier to patrol and maintain than 2,000 miles of it, especially when half the nation (most of which do not live along the border) will tear it down once their party gets back into power.
Unless he works on fixing the incentives that draw them here in the first place (social programs, jobs, etc) then a wall is just pissing in the wind (and will act as more of an incentive until it's completed).

We need a barrier that is very difficult to get around/under/over for the average person to stop the influx of people coming through. Then we need sensors and monitors (using both technology and border patrol agents) to make sure no one is breaching the wall or digging under it and to catch those who may do so.
If it's effective, it doesn't need to be 100 feet tall.

Also, combine things such as that and drone technology with the fact that Trump will actually enact federal laws on the books already. He will deport the drug dealers in beach mansions in the US; with their cartel dealers and hookers and blow on speed dial. And keep them out.
If the cartel's dealers are booted their business shuts down and they have no reason to dig under. They will probably have to reroute through S. America and tick off these guys and their turf and income; and try the old fashioned cigarette boat smuggling into Miami. But it won't be as massive as it is now. The heroine OD epidemic in the US is catastrophic.
