quote:

Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to cancel a meeting with Theresa May in the wake of the landmark anti-settlement resolution at the UN Security Council. The Israeli prime minister also recalled 10 ambassadors to members of the UNSC on Sunday, including the UK, and, in a highly unusual move, the US ambassador. The US state department said Mr Netanyahu would meet on Sunday night with Daniel Shapiro, the US ambassador to Israel. Mr Netanyahu restated earlier unattributed claims by the Israeli government that Washington, which abstained from the vote, had conspired with the Palestinians to push for the resolution's adoption. Speaking to a weekly meeting of his Cabinet, Mr Netanyahu said Israel was also considering a "plan of action" against the UN, without elaborating. "We will do all it takes so Israel emerges unscathed from this shameful decision," Mr Netanyahu said.

Israel has about half of Congress working for them, so this is probably just a budget saving move.

I can't stand either, but as long as our money and weapons are being sent to Israel, I totally support the US shitting in their cereal on a regular basis.

I have always said we should be 100% neutral in the Israeli-Palestine conflict as well as any middle east conflict. Let the middle east countries involved deal with it, and we should stay out of it. No foreign aid or weapons or money going to Israel or any other country.

I hope the Trump administration is neutral on it all. He actually said in the primary debates he would be. Remember how Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio flipped shite when Trump said, basically, that he wouldn't be 110% pro Israel in this conflict and when Israel says jump ask how high? I remember.

Trump has clearly stated he will be pro-Israel and given his family connections this should not be a surprise. I have no problem with Israel existing as long as a viable Palestinian state exists too.

That was a long time ago. Trump has been an Israeli suckup ever since.

Does he really believe this though. I would say, yes he does, because of his family influences. But I still remember during the GOP primary and debates when Ted Cruz was attacking Trump hard about not being 110% pro Israel.

I agree with this, and sadly, having this viewpoint is considered unacceptable by many.

I agree. Something happened, because his tune in the primary was different. His stance in the primary was basically "Let's sit Israel and Palestine down at the table and negotiate a deal" which made Ted Cruz flip out. Ted Cruz was basically like "How dare you give Palestine a seat at the negotating table!! The only one at the table should be Israel and it should be their way or the highway and Palestine can stick it where the sun don't shine!"

Is Kushner/Ivanka having that much of an influence on his Israel stances?

I hope he is neutral as much as possible, but I have my doubts. I'm gonna give him a fair shake.

It's almost impossible to have the stance he had early in the campaign. this country (especially the south) is full of cucks who worship jews and the government of Israel, sometimes in a very literal sense. I hope his recent rhetoric does not indicate what his future actions will be on this issue, because America cannot afford to carry Israel's water any more.

My issue are the ones who say Israel's interests are just as important as America's interests... Ted Cruz is one of them.

I care about America and America only. To say a foreign country and its interests are just important as our own, in my opinion, is treason.

If Israelis are settling disputed land because they are the more powerful party, they are no better than China. That's exactly what's happening in the South China Sea, albeit a different scale.

Are we hypocrites by supporting one and challenging legitimacy of another?

I don't know enough about Israels rights to that land to really.

It's either theirs or it isn't. So either they are forcibly and violently attacking new territory to expand their borders, or they are using Eminent Domain to steal land from arab Israelis and giving it to Jewish Israelis, which is ethnic cleansing.

Either way, states don't have "rights", only people do.

The unwavering support for Israel here is mind-blowing. They take our money and weapons while actively spying on us, defying the terms by which we agreed to give them their money/weapons, constantly antagonizing neighboring states and forcing us to calm shite down, undermining our attempts to protect them from otherwise certain destruction and all the while the only benefit we receive is having a tiny sliver of land in the ME which supposedly doesn't unanimously hate us...except most of them still hate us.

I mean I get it's good to have allies in the ME but goddamn, with friends like that...
