I find that Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity are the epitome of journalistic integrity.

No and no. All journalism will have a little bias. But bias coupled with outright falsehoods, unverified sources so long as the harm the "bad guys", and half truths are the problem.

American journalism is terrible. Read newspapers and periodicals from outside the US. Their reporting is light years better.

And never get your news from a television.

Objectivity in news is a farce. Websites like The Intercept and National Review each have an ideological slant but produce good journalism. Its the illusion of objectivity that permeates the MSM which is the biggest threat to journalism.

Some Europen channels carry a show called "No Comment" which shows footage from Europe and the M.E.

It does show gore and death so be warned.

One America News Network is pretty cool. Their news programs are usually presented without any agenda or slant, though their opinion shows at night are right-leaning.

I wish I could remember the name, but I saw an interview with an old retired journalist. He talked about how sad he was to see Newspapers and Networks full of nothing but Liberals. He said in his day it was a wonderful mix of Liberals and Conservatives working together to report facts without an agenda.

The coverage of the last few presidents gives me little hope of finding any solid information from the press that I can count on.

Nope.
Networks are comprised of people.
People are biased.

C-Span?

I mean, they have about 99% zero commentary.

It's just live feeds.

The best answer for getting "real" news is stop watching TV. All TV news sucks in terms of reporting the news.

Read, read some more, then read more. Use your common sense and you will find people that report trustworthy news. Find multiple journalists from multiple sites. Read their work. Then you will get the "real" news.

No.

Journalism has been biased since America was still colonies. The idea that somehow this just happened is, I believe, erroneous.

For a balanced view, read AP articles and /or watch network news. Then watch Fox Special Report and / or listen to Rush Limbaugh. What one will discover is the actual bias is NOT in what the AP / Network News is reporting, but rather in their omissions.

Consider "lead" stories, length of stories and repetition of stories. Consider the omissions ... then draw your own conclusion.

No, and if there was they would have the lowest ratings. People wanna feel comfortable and vindicated, they're going to watch what caters to them. If this board was 50/50 liberal/conservative you'd be seeing as many Fox News hate threads as you see CNN.

CNN while trump is in office is worse than everyone, Fox News when obama was president was worse than everyone

This is what's wrong with politics. The right is just as bad as the left with this mentality (with everything, not just media coverage). Now, instead of demand accountability from their own media sources, when a right wing outlet retracts a statement the right will just excuse it by referring to CNN.

Just look at the way the right excuses everything Trump does and says by pointing to something a democrat has done in the past. Look at Trump's past tweets about Obama playing golf, the money spent on Obama's travel, Trump saying he would never leave DC because of too much work to do, etc.

If people would demand accountability from their side instead of making excuses by pointing to something the other party did, we might be able to get results from our politicians. They would know their supporters will turn on them if they don't toe the line
