As to the OP, no, the current conflict in the middle east has nothing to do with Biblical prophecy. At the beginning of the book of Revelation, John said foresaw what "would happen soon." He wrote this to a specific group of early Christians as a comfort in the days of persecution that would soon follow. Everything in the book has already come to pass.
But if you read further in chapter one you will come to this passage which shows that the writings describe things that have happened, are happening and will happen in the future. Soon is relative to God's timetable.
1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
