and this is an old article, imagine today...the article also bases Ryan's topple off of Trump bad approval numbers. But I'd bet Ryan's approval numbers are in the tank. They think the pub split will allow in the democrat.

The 2018 elections are a long way off yet, but the idea of knocking off the Speaker isn’t political fan fiction; it has happened in recent history. In 1994, riding New Gingrich’s Contract with America, Republicans took back the House for the first time in decades and knocked off Democratic Speaker Tom Foley in the process.

No public polling has been released in Paul Ryan’s district that suggests he is vulnerable, but a recent national poll released by Public Policy Polling found Ryan’s approval rating underwater, with 37% approving of his job performance and 43% disapproving.

The only way he can lose is if Trump campaigns against him.
I would love to see it happen

he is not. He might lose his speakership if he fails to get anything through. But he won't lose his seat.

I agree, and we know he is so FOS and despises Trump and all of Trumps' policies. I think they are trying to force in the cuck gang of eight immigration plan because they know their jig is up. If he were to win re election and remain as Speaker they will go antiTrump 100 percent. I wish Nehlen would Eric Cantorize Ryan.

I would love for Trump to just say, "Okay, we're obviously getting nothing done in my first term, so I'm going to spend every second of my time and energy getting my people in place in every department, and campaigning to oust all these cucks and get REAL Americans in place in Congress. Then in my second term we can straighten this country out."

I agree with this. Trump needs to campaign hard for some replacements for these corrupt republicans.

He was behind in "the poles" and had to fly his sorry arse up to WI with protestors outside his house with his new wall...somehow pulled it off last time around. Probably fraud...just like him. I'd rather a Dem win than his pathetic arse.

I'd say Ryan is pretty damned safe. I thought the same thing about Eric Cantor too though so who knows

Tom Foley in 1994 was the only Speaker of the House to lose reelection since 1862. That election there was a 108 Representative D-R flip (Rs went from 176 to 230; Ds went from 258 to 204).

In other words, if Ryan loses, that's probably a terrible sign for the party.
