Is /Has TV destroyed truth in America?

It just seems to hypnotize or brainwash with innuendo to fit some agenda.
I live in a mixed neighborhood that is full of good people that would help out no matter ones race or religion.
Now everything bad will be Trumps fault instead of Obama's.
The suspicion and dislike for Hillery Clinton put Trump over the top. Not a burning desire to kill and hate others as some liberals are "Trumpeting"
For every real occurrence of bigotry going on as reported on TV I can't help but believe their is an equal number of staged occurrences.
Am I naive or just not aware of things I can't see? And I'm not advocating bigotry has disappeared. I'm just not sure it's now changed level headed Americans into neo-natzis overnight.

My wife watches a LOT of TV but it doesn't effect her:

That, but mostly the education system, the legal system, the cultural values, etc, etc...you know...cultural Communists.

No. Media always had an agenda. Internet is just blowing up the media and their portrayed truth.
The other problem is there's a lot of false info. Even people that write the truth have said they are required to write upwards of 40% false truth or they'd be killed. You just have to spend a ridiculous amount of time to find the truth.
Another thing is America is not in good shape. Diversity + proximity often means bad things when an economy is bad. Someone will try to blame a different group and so on and so forth. People are tribal fighting for a finite amount of resources. It's unfortunate but it's just nature.

back in the dark ages, my father called TV, "the boob tube/idiot box"...only stupid people watch the damn thing and if they aren't stupid now, they will be soon enough"
He would only watch Huntley Brinkley report (NBC) and I forget who on there before them. Hated Walter Cronkite (called him a socialist) Hated the body bag count being tallied everyday on the nightly news, and hated how all news (only 3 back then) portrayed the south as racist during the civil rights struggle. Most of that turmoil was due to people being bussed in, professional agitators...One sided coverage...
No much has changed with the news since his time, mainly cable and graphics/computer tech enhancements...
same boobiness and vitriol against american judeo christian principles.

Truth has always been hard to find. TV just exposes you to a higher volume of propaganda throughout more of your day than flipping through the paper used to.
Internet catching up to television has helped sort through some of the BS, but can complicate things also.
