re: Intercepted Calls Prove Syrian Army Used Nerve Gas, U.S. Spies Say

When you look at all the facts, even prior to this, it does seem more likely than not that the Syrian gov was the culprit. This just nails it down.

However, that being said, I think it was a huge mistake for Obama to redline this....we don't need to get involved in another ME civil war.

nah, Assad doesn't know about it... he hasn't been able to watch the nightly news over the last few nights because of turmoil at home.

Did you see this?

Does Obama know he’s fighting on al-Qa’ida’s side?

It really needs a thread on it's own.

Interesting thought....

if Obama sides with the AQ rebels against Assad.

And since we are at war with AQ....has Obama just committed treason?

Israeli Intelligence Services has a long standing reputation of being the best in the world.

This is what I was basing my statement on earlier. Not that they, like any government with special interests wouldn't lie to manipulate government/citizens for their own agendas, but they are renowned nonetheless.

Rex, you are a hack of the highest order. Why didn't the buck stop with Obama with Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious, etc.? Oh that's right I almost forgot, he learned about these things from watching the news.

First, this evidence seems improbable possibly contrived but assuming it is true/accurate then it's a good thing and should be used politically to put pressure on Assad and therefore Russia to look for peaceful solutions for the issues within Syria. However, the key word here is "within" Syria. This is an internal civil war and I still believe we should not get involved militarily.

Last Wednesday, in the hours after a horrific chemical attack east of Damascus, an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defense exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers for a nerve agent strike that killed more than 1,000 people.

So, a chemical attack happened and an official from their DoD panics and frantically tries to find out what took place by calling a military leader in the field. What was said? Why the panic? IF the Syrian military did it, was it a mistake? Was it a rogue general? Was this not an order from Assad?

-OR-

Did the Syrian DoD hear about the attack and try to find out what happened? Did they want answers?

This tells me nothing. Seriously? We are going to war with another country over a phone call that could be interpreted different ways, according to what we are being told?

Sure, it may have been a wayward drone that killed innocent women and children (repeatedly), but the buck stops with Obama. Right?

I'll never understand why killing people with chemical agents is any worse than killing people with drones. The end results is they're fricking dead.

The moral high ground emanating from the US is sickening.

"Blah, blah, blah...chemical weapons...blah, blah...children dying...blah, blah."

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH. So NOW we care about children dying?

re: Intercepted Calls Prove Syrian Army Used Nerve Gas, U.S. Spies Say
First, I don't advocate attacking Syria over what appears to be an isolated chemical weapons attack. However, chemical weapons are considered horrific due to the method of death and the fact that it is mass destruction thus the WMD moniker. No doubt drone missile attacks entail collateral damage maybe killing a dozen or more in a single strike but nothing on the order of the one thousand or more potentially killed in a single chemical weapons attack.
