Detroit is going bankrupt and there is nothing this thief can do about it.

Don't kid yourself, QC. There are a ton of Dem Cities that are in this mess; Obama virtually pissed on the Law and validity of any economic contract that can exist when he did the GM thing; you really think he'll let what would be 20 times GM just hang out to dry? No way. The checks to replace those pensions are GOING TO BE WRITTEN in some way, shape or form, through some regulatory bureaucratic mechanism, and it'll probably be under the radar, like the SSA Disability (ADHD) payouts.

That "thief" has the whole Prog machine backing her up. This is the essence of a model for the Statist future; no way they let if go bad. It's 'all in'.

it's slightly interesting in that the bankruptcy, being federal, stays any state court proceeding

The guestion will be is their standing in federal court? If action it against the state's constitustion, is their even grounds to make it to bankruptcy/federal court?

It's on Cavuto right now...I knew it. Equating it with the Bank bailouts in the Financial Crisis. The Banks were responsible...the poor pensioners weren't at fault. Therefore.....! He we go. Buckle up...your money is ultimately goin in the kitty along with every other *Democratic* municipality in this country.

Watch Obama announce Monday, an emergency bailout paid for by the taxpayers. Probably only 798 billion.

bailouts imply a payback...giving it to Detroit is basically just burning this money.

For argument's sake, CB...haven't the Banks made a killing on Bernacke's QE...while REAL inflation (energy, hamburger, etc.) whacks the poor who live on pensions?

And re those pensions...aren't they tied to the performance of the Stock Market? If the SM is tied to QE, and QE shuts down, Markets tank...won't that affect even (supposedly) solvent Pensions?

I see no way it all don't go into a Government secured kitty...and given an exponential increase in accumulated debt with rising interest rates...just what kind of International deal are we going to be forced to cut in order to borrow?

Hell...I takin my tin foil hat off and going eat my pizza. This stuff sucks.

What about the people who weren't even born who will be expected to pay taxes to provide retirement benefits for those "good people who work?" How are they not being cheated, and don't they count? Unfortunately, the people most responsible for the situation cannot be held accountable for their actions. They would be the politicians who approved the employment contracts with the unfunded pension liabilities. They knew they were not providing adequate contributions during the workers' careers to fund the benefits they promised. It would be poetic justice if Detroit was able to prioritize and discontinue paying them any retirement benefits before the benefits of any other former employees get reduced.

She also ordered that a copy of her declaratory judgment be sent to President Barack Obama, saying he “bailed out Detroit” and may want to look into the pension issue.

LOL! So this judge basically just determined Detroit is another one of these "too big to fail" entities?

Ruling that the governor and Detroit’s emergency manager violated the state constitution, an Ingham County Circuit judge ordered Friday that Detroit’s federal bankruptcy filing be withdrawn.

I'm pretty sure that Michigan has very strong constitutional statutes protecting public employees.

Aquilina said she would make sure President Obama got a copy of her order.

“I know he’s watching this,” she said, predicting the president ultimately will have to do something to make sure existing city workers’ pension agreements are honored.

I have to give her credit, at least she didn't cite foreign case law that affected her ruling.
