This guy, a doc, provided this Ill-informed take on things,so many ways to pick apart but I think it's an example of how influential the fake news media can be

quote:

To me, the irony is that they even call it "Obamacare." Obama wanted a single payer system, or at least a public option. We're stuck with what the Republicans in congress agreed not to filibuster. It should really be called Boehnercare. I hope the Republicans repeal it, and also get rid of the filibuster override threshold, so that in 2020 we can pass real healthcare reform. I said it then, and I'll say it now: the problem with healthcare is the Insurance industry, not the government.

Before you quoted it, I was going to call you out.

But now we can all call out the ridiculousness regarding the filibuster (the Senate was essentially 60 Ds), but that's even less ridiculous than associating Boehner with the filibuster, since he was never in the Senate in the first place. Then the whole "not to filibuster parts." I'm not even sure what that means, even if the filibuster part made sense in the first place.

Obviously he can be a good MD and know nothing about civics, but I wouldn't take my chance under his care based on that nonsense.

Obama was pro single payer before he was against it.

Well this irony is that insurance is a very logical good and service to have, especially health insurance above most others.

So why would something so important become so problematic from the insurance companies, when other sectors and even insurance types don't have that problem?

Could the government, and cronyism, be part of the issue?

Granted. Health ins. should be no harder to get than car Ins. Cut regulations, sell across state lines and we might have something.

I am conservative and I would prefer a single payer system over what we have now. If the government can't stay away from the healthcare business and they insist on creating impediments for me to get a reasonable deal on insurance then it is their job to make sure I have insurance. Republicans are unwilling to actually repeal the most important parts of Obamacare and this is the last chance they will ever get to do it. Obama won on medical care. Inevitably we will have socialized healthcare. Might as well hurry up and get there.
