Only if you like incorrect articles.
even if 90% of Americans want something that goes against our founding principles, they have no right to call for a violation of constitutional rights.
Uh, you understand that the constitution can be changed and if 90% of the people wanted to change the constitution, they could change it.
That is legal and that is what the founding fathers wanted.
Do they have the right to change the teachings of your God?
Churches change their teaching all the time.
For the purpose of the American Government our constitution and founders who wrote it are much like God is to believers. It is the law. It is indisputable.
Actually, this is kinda wrong. It is totally disputable. You can in fact change or amend the constitution if you get follow certain necessary steps. In fact, this has already been done 27 times.
So, I'm not sure what he is saying.
We have forgotten in this country that we are ultimately ruled by a constitution.
I don't really think this is a correct statement. We are ruled by the politicians that we elect. However, certain rights are protected by the constitution and the government is set up by the constitution.
Congress could pass gun ban legislation by a 90%+ margin and it just would not matter.
If they also had a 90% majority of the population, an amendment could easily be done to the constitution.
I think some people are very unclear on this.
I think he is unclear.
A majority in America only matters when the constitution is not in play.
Again, not correct. If a large enough majority is in play, the constitution can be amended.
I just wrote what every believer in the constitution wants to say, and what every constitutional blogger needs to write.
Uh, no. You wrote things that are incorrect.
The truth of the matter is that this type of speech is viewed as dangerous and radical or subversive, and it could gain me a world of trouble that I do not want.
If they come for your guns it is your right to use those guns against them and to kill them.
Uh, no. That is not your right. You right would be to petition the courts and get the property returned to you. The constitution does not say you can shoot people if they come for your guns.
Perhaps I missed that part.
In short, this guy is wrong on too many parts to count.
If 90% of the politicians want to ban guns and 90% of the population wants to ban guns, guess what guys?
They can legally ban guns by amending the constitution. That is totally legal. That is totally as our founding fathers set up. That is constitutionally correct. The supreme court couldn't say that this was incorrect, because they just changed the constitution.
I find many of the arguments on this board funny. I see why so many anti-gun people have little trouble defeating people in debates.
What we have on our side is the second amendment. But guess what people? Just as prohibition was repealed, so to could the right to keep and bear arms.
If they get a large enough majority, they could pull it off. That won't happen today or tomorrow. But it could happen in the future. And it would be totally legal. It would be constitutional. And you shoot someone trying to get those guns you would be in the wrong. You would basically be shooting someone who was supporting the constitution.
The author of this article is just wrong.
