I am certainly not a Trump apologist but a candidate would have zero clue what the South Korean president was told by Trump.
I hope and pray that no US president is honest with the media about our strategic plans and the exact whereabouts or plans of a carrier battle group, use them as a propaganda tool but that is it.

As Rear Adm. John Kirby said yesterday...no one "lied". The strike group wasn't scheduled to be in Korean waters until the end of April, at the earliest, per the Pentagon a couple wks ago.

SK has very few options. I doubt the EU is going to commit cash and troops to keep them safe, and SK does not want to live under China's rule.

The only thing that mattered was that Un believed it. The US had SK's back, regardless of where the group was.

The original comments, accompanied by pictures of a carrier group, and Pence looking like a tough guy squinting, did seem to suggest that the movement was already underway.
