If No-one Signs Up for Obamacare... (Would it last?)

... how much money would it cost (outside of what has been spent on the web site) and wouldn't it die on its own?

If that is the case, then why is there this extreme effort to short-circuit it?

And lets not run on emotion and say zero people sign up. Lets say that 1 million take advantage of ObamaCare and get insured.

No it would not. Name me one entitlement program that is failing that has been cancelled and repealed. Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare... Hell, name a government program. Social Security, Public Education. All are failing government programs that are proven that they are failing, and they will NEVER be repealed. Once you give someone something free, it is nearly impossible to take it away from them.

Let's not run on emotion and say 1 million are signed up. Be realistic. In reality, i would say about 20k might have signed up. But the white house won't release those numbers. Do you ever ask yourself why?

The parasites have their foot in the door. It's going to be almost impossible to dewclaw them from the tax payer.

The numbers people posted on here state they need 7 million (I think) for it to work.

So 1 million would bankrupt it pretty quickly.

How would only 1 million signing up cost more than 7 million? Wouldn't that just mean less subsidies? Overall would that still reduce other costs involved with the uninsured getting emergency treatments?

Because the one million would be the unhealthy. They neen 6 million healthy premium payers to pay for it

virtually everyone eligible for a subsidy or who has a pre existing condition is going to sign up via the exchange, assuming it starts to function.

the question should have been "what if no young healthy people signs up?"

Yes, because one the govt starts a program, they will throw money at it no matter how far in the hole it goes.

Which is the reason why private business can run almost ANYTHING better than the govt... They will cut the fat in order to make it or shut it down.

Said young healthy people will probably sign up with a gun to their head.

The answer is yes, since the IRS is running this program.

Fines and threats will come.

re: If No-one Signs Up for Obamacare... (Would it last?)
Not a single sign-up in Alaska.

Answer to OP...it'll "last", regardless; in some way shape or form because it (Obama) is to big to fail.

What definitely won't last is the current form of private ownership of assets when the Chinese and the rest of the World get pissed enough at our spoiled asses for DEVALUING the World Reserve Currency and the debt they hold...that they bail out and demand payment in principle PLUS the cost of inflation.

Litigation in a World Court won't look pretty.

This whole scenario is flat out BS. It's Obama...Cloward-Piven...'never let a crisis go to waste'/"fundamentally change the nation" community organizer/commie rev systematic sedition and treason. And that's the polite version.

Book it...this bunch will CRASH the whole system before giving up their cause.

Yes it would last. The President and the Democrats have too much vested in it to let it fail.

What you would see is a massive publicity push as well as much brain-storming on how to lure people into it. We have seen this recently with the USDA trying to lure more Latinos into signing up for Food Stamps with a series radio drama commercials.

Every worker should just retire or quit their jobs.....

The leeches would all die of heart attacks within a month.

Serious question: That would create more tax revenue, no? If they signed up for coverage that would be negative tax revenue due to the extra subsidies.

Have the numbers been run and everyone has figured out that this will work, therefore the Hail Mary attempt to kill it?

It's not about tax revenue. It's about young healthy (males) paying a lot more for their policies to pay for those who are now paying less than market value. If not enough off these types sign up then you'll see insurance companies raise rates even further, especially on corporate policies, to offset their losses and maintain their margins.
