Allows us to get more conservative tax reform, would you be willing to support the bill?

The infrastructure plan has around 90% approval so it WILL happen one way or another, and with that knowledge I'm glad tax cuts might be chained to it

Not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that infrastructure spending is welfare?

I'd support infrastructure even in not tied to it. I can assure I'm more fiscally conservative than a lot of people, both personally and politically.

I just look around and I know we need to upgrade. Of all the things the government will put money in, this one will actually pay off long term.

Plus, there is more to it than just government money. You have private/public partnerships, one time corporate repatriation, plus tolls and everything else.

I truly think the country needs a well thought out, infrastructure plan that is very well funded.

I'm has concerned as anyone on how it'll get paid for. But like you said, infrastructure will happen eventually for several reasons (biggest being because it is actually needed, not to mention it'll create job which Trump wants more than anything). So if he can get some Dems to support tax reform using the infrastructure carrot, then all the power to him.

Does not yet exist. Still in pie-in-the-sky phase.

I didn't say infrastructure was welfare. I said infrastructure welfare. Qualifying the latter with the former implies they are different

Initially yes. I'd eventually expect some cuts in spending somewhere. Since that's not likely to happen, I'll take my tax cut now.

The real discussion I think is whose fault is it we'll likely not get spending cuts. I don't think most people like the answer to this one.

americans have pretty clearly indicated at this point that they don't seriously want to cut spending

It is the height of poor fiscal management to invest in infrastructure NOW but to refuse to do so 8 years ago because it will benefit the GOP now but would have benefitted Obama then. The economy is growing, material prices are higher, labor is higher and interest rates are higher.....I'm all for increasing government spending but where are the conservatives?
