Donald Trump is a one-man basket of deplorables. He is a braggart and a liar. He is a bully and a demagogue. He is an ignoramus and a deadbeat, a chiseler and either a sincere racist or an insincere one, and his love for himself is matched only by my loathing of him. He is about to be president of the United States. A constitutional coup may be in the offing. (snip)

Under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, the vice president, together with a “majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide” can remove the president for being “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” No doubt the mere mention of incapacitation would summon a horde of lawyers to Washington to contest it or the meaning of every term.

But it is plain that the 25th Amendment does give a role to Cabinet members that is not generally considered when they are up for confirmation. This time, however, they should all be asked whether they are aware of the 25th Amendment and, if need be, whether they would be willing to implement it. Some would say that they do not respond to hypotheticals, but a willingness to abide by the Constitution is not a hypothetical. It is, instead, a grave duty.

If I spent my entire day trying to find ways to be this miserable, I would have long since did myself in.

Article 4 of the 25th Amendment (the part that the whole article relies upon) states:

quote:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

So the liberals' master plan is to ask Pence, and Cabinet members who Trump himself appointed, declare that Trump is unable to continue doing his job, and then have Pence (who liberals hate) be President? Do they not understand the presidential line of succession?

If they did that wouldn't Pence become POTUS?

That's insane even for the editorial page and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's the editorial page

Well, in fairness, the guy that ended up getting elected President did go on a fishing expedition to Hawaii to try and get the new guy retroactively invalidated for the office.

Maybe you and the wife should learn the difference between an Opinion piece and an Editorial.

That's actually a good rule of thumb. If it isn't an Editorial, it's a bit misplaced to say "WAPO (or NYT, WSJ, LA Times, etc) says x."
