I pretty much am.
I will honestly say that while I expected Obama to win, I did not expect the total bed-shitting of the GOP on November 6. While I expected the "after action" sniping, I have been surprised at the willingness of GOP "leaders" to somehow think that Dems/Libs have their future electoral success at heart when considering their recommendations on what should be done with the party's platform, and its treatment of the conservative "right wing" of their party. It is as if the GOP has gone full retard in light of the election results.
Anyway, I am finding it hard to muster any sort of passion about politics. Perhaps it is my inherent fatalism finally prevailing due to my realization that the USA of the Constitution, the nation that I have loved since I could understand just how great it was, is forever gone. That this nation is now run by the takers, and their "masters." Where the law is meaningless, and what is "right" is what is important, no matter the means. Plus, we have a press/media that in but only a few instances, has no desire or will to even try to hold the Dems/Libs accountable.
Yes, I know that this decline has been going on for a while, but there always seemed to be some sort of "firewall" from complete capitualtion (Reagan, 1994 "Contract With America," the Tea Party). That's gone now. The Reagan Dems are dead, or don't care. The TP has allowed itself to be portrayed as racist anti-choice homophobes and while they do have such people in their ranks, they are still the spending enraged group they have always been, but it is too late.
What's worse is that there is no conservative leadership in Congress. Boehner is useless and McConnel makes Boehner look like an effective leader. Rather that use the power of the House (the "power of the purse") to do the right things, we only hear the lament that "we are only 1/2 of 1/3 of the government. Feckless leadership = what we have now.
Thus, while I will likely continue to chime in now and then when a particular topic interests me, it's over. They won. They will continue winning, and there's not a fricking thing that can be done about it. I weep for my children. Their future is truly fricked.
