Mash
25-year-old Andrew Schneck was kneeling down near the statue late Saturday night, holding small boxes, duct tape and wires when he was spotted by a park ranger. The ranger saw Schneck set the materials down, pour a bottle of what was found to be one of the world’s most powerful explosives, nitroglycerin, on the ground by the statue.
When Schneck was apprehended, authorities also found him in possession of HMTD, a primary explosive that comes in powder form.
Had the ranger not noticed the suspicious activity, Schneck could have been successful in detonating the statue, which would have been a shocking escalation in the saga of Confederate monuments being taken down or moved from public spaces nationwide.
When the park ranger asked Schneck about what he was doing, he admitted to wanting to harm the statue because he didn’t “like that guy.”

Houston went absolute full retard on the confederate nonsense.
They renamed Sidney Lanier middle school whose namesake was a poet who happened to you know live in the south during the civil war and therefore fought in the civil war
They also renamed John Reagan high school whose namesake was a Texas US rep prior, post master during, and Texas US senator after the war. He also fought for reconciliation rather than resistance post war.
So essentially, if you lived in a southern state during the war, you can't be remembered.

Seems that this guy has been caught before trying to make bombs and tear gas. Fricking chemistry majors are the worst. I hope they throw the book at him and give him the full 40 yrs, seeing that only terrorist use explosives to prove a point.

He should be fed bread and water, housed in a tent surrounded by razor wire, and forced to work on our Freedom Wall.
