A tax deduction worth $20,000 for families and $7,500 for individuals to allow them to buy health insurance in any state. Americans could save any extra money they have by picking low cost insurance.

A tax deduction worth about $7,500 for wealthy families and $0 for poor families - yeah, that's really smart guys! GOOD JOB!!!!!

I don't know the content of the overall debate...but I would imagine poor families don't itemize. So this statement doesn't really fit.

So you're saying people that don't pay taxes should get a tax cut? How does that work?

Reid is the obstructionist there. He probsbly won't let this come to a vote. If it's so bad, then stand by Obamacare and vote against this.

This bipartisan bill protects the full faith and credit of the US. The senate needs to vote on this.

Let me put it to you another way:

What if the Senate Democrats refused to sign some sort of routine legislation (like increasing the debt ceiling) unless the republican house agreed to enact gun control legislation....Oh, and then they suggest that the republicans are being obstructionists.

That's how stupid the GOP's argument is right now.

--eta--
and do you keep saying "bipartisan" because 2 house democrats voted for it?

If they don't itemize then the tax deduction is worth zero to them. So the statement fits exactly.

No, I'm saying the purpose of that provision is to give another tax cut to the wealthy, not to ensure people have health insurance.

So deductions should not exist? Since only those who itemize use them. Is this your assertion?

Do you think the wealthy are really concerned about a $7500 tax break?

Sorry you don't get the joke.

That's how obamacare was trumpeted when passed.

That's a bad analogy unless the GOP would not vote on the bill. Reid is an obstructionist because he won't allow a vote.

Actually, no it doesn't. It allows for deductions for those that pay in, like it should. A poor family on medicaid does not pay in to their healthcare, therefore, they do not get a tax deduction, because they did not pay the adjusted tax rate.

Do you really think it would pass in the senate? Or do you think it's an opportunity to refresh the "look who voted for Obamacare" commercials?

Which reminds me.......it's been about five years since I've heard Obama use the phrase, "kicking the can down the road," that he was once so fond of.

What a stupid and cynical law.

$20,000 for people who can already afford insurance and $0 for those who can't.

And, needless to say, once everybody who is already buying insurance gets more money to pay explicitly FOR insurance the prices of those insurance policies will rise accordingly.

Republicans are dumbasses, plain and simple. Good thing, though, we never have to really worry about this pile of garbage seeing the light of day.
