The GOP won't raise the debt ceiling b/c Democrats won't defund/overturn Obamacare....so the Ds are obstructionist? Right. Just keep saying that.

So you have a standoff where one side proposed a solution and the other completely ignored it an offered no solution of their own.

I ask again, exactly how is the GOP obstructionist in this scenario and who is responsible if the government shuts down?

Actually, the house voted to completely fund the government, minus obamacare. So now the dems must vote on keeping the government funded or keeping their pet power grab of Obamacare. What's more important to you libs, keeping the gov't running, or keeping partisan legislation that the majority of the public doesn't want?

It is the law of the land. Period. What the public wants will be reflected in 2014 and 2016. This is a republic. That's how it works.

Ongoing political gamesmanship is extremely dangerous. Even republican strategists acknowledge that this is dangerous business.

What? The law of the land changes every time a bill is passed.

The people already spoke their mind about spending and this abomination during the bloodbath midterms of 2010.

What are the chances that the 41st attempt at repealing Obamacare is successful?

This is all for GOP house members for their 2014 campaign... John Boehner (and everbody) knows this is a dog and pony show. But I don't think I can convince you of that so feel free to think what you want.

The fact is the two sides are irreconcilably entrenched on this issue for a variety of issues ranging from party to ideology to personal aspiration.

The people voted those members into office to manage the purse strings. Reid won't work with them or bring the bills up for vote. Is that because its a waste of time or because he doesn't want people in his party to have to vote against something their constituents may agree with?

I know I won't change your mind either, but to say republicans are obstructionists or will be responsible for this shut down when they continue to propose viable solutions is laughable.

It takes both parties to have this kind of gridlock.

A bipartisan majority in the house voted to fund the government today. Let's see how serious the Senate is about funding our government.

If this is so wrong, why not vote on it?

But the law has been passed! The ship has sailed! You act like it's still up for debate. You don't get to infinitely dither over a decision that has already been made. Win the senate in 14 or 16. Win the presidency. Then overturn it. Jesus.

Yeah you can look at it like that if you want to. But most people see it for what it is.

You keep saying this. Who cares if the law was passed? We have to choose what government programs we want to fund and how much funding they are to receive. The house is in charge of making that determination, and they reasonably determined ACA isn't worth our scarce resources.

Everything is functioning the way it should yet Reid won't even allow his chamber to express their view on the proposal.

Seems like obstructionism to me.

How would you feel about someone saying this in regards to laws that outlaw gay marriage?

That's the nature of partisanship. Nothing you are against is written in stone while everything you support is.

Bingo.

Democrats will risk shutting down the government to protect a few of them from having to actually vote for or against funding this unpopular law. They know that they will be penalized in 2014 if they are on record supporting Obamacare.

Spin it any way you want. That's what will happen.

allow them to buy health insurance in any state.

That's going to make a big difference. I'd like to see an insurance company offer a plan that eliminates deductibles and replaces them with a system where the person pays, say, 10% of the medical bill up to ~$5000. That would force customers to shop around for the best price, decreasing costs significantly.

Reid is the obstructionist there. He probsbly won't let this come to a vote. If it's so bad, then stand by Obamacare and vote against this.

This bipartisan bill protects the full faith and credit of the US. The senate needs to vote on this.

That's similar to what my company has now.

It's kind of a PITA. Doctors like the bill after service model. Shopping around for health care is a bitch. It would help if more people did it.

Where'd you get that lib talking point from?

So, it's the law of the land, so what? What does that even mean? If King Obama can pick and choose what parts of Obamacare he wants to enforce then why can't the people? If Obama can give out waivers for his friends, and delay implementation of parts of the bill, then the law of the land is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Oh and you know how i know you lost the argument? Because i countered your point, and you reply with.

Here are some of a want's original thoughts. Oh wait, he's parroting.

LINK

quote:

“This is no longer a political debate; this is what we call the law,” Sebelius told a group that includes Democrats and Republicans, elected officials, political appointees and bureaucrats. “It was passed and signed three years ago. It was upheld by the Supreme Court a year ago. The president was re-elected. This is the law of the land.”

and every liberal talk show is parroting it.

Oh, and a want, guess what? Slavery was the law of the land in the 1700 and 1800's.

Here are some other laws that used to be "law of the land"

“Defense of Marriage Act.”
“The speed limit used to be 55, now it’s 70.”
“Immigration law.”
“Guns, Second Amendment.”
“Laws against marijuana.”

A want, i think that is what we call a

Republicans were shut out of the process. Quit being a hack.

Karl Rove is a douche. I love how libs pull out dem-lite bottles and tell us conservatives agree with them. It's fricking stupid.
