I honestly don't know the answer to this. When was the last time there was peace in the ME? I always hear how Islam is a religion of peace, but it seems Islamic countries are in a perpetual state of conflict.

I honestly don't think there has been peace in the Middle East since time immemorial. The ancient Egyptians and their Pharaohs were not exactly peaceniks, and before that history gets murky. When you also consider the feuds between the various Muslim factions, peace does not seem to appear on the pages of Middle Eastern history.

Why are honest questions never honest? Sorta like prefacing a statement with not to be rude....

It has pretty much been in conflict throughout human history.

Only strong militaristic dynasties have enabled any significant times of little conflict, and those only last so long as capable leaders remained.

That only lasts so long

I meant honest in the sense that it wasn't rhetorical. I don't know the answer and was looking for one.

The Middle East like most regions of the world has never been completely at peace for long stretches of time. You can easily say the same about Europe.

Rome was constantly fighting there. Assyria, Egypt Babylon Macedonia Persia, constant fighting. Israel has been conquered repeatedly. It's just aggravating now bc their religious zealots are attacking the west and the west seems consciously oblivious to the threat posed.

Chevy Chase's running gag on his Weekend Update was "trouble in the Middle East". So really never. There was never peace there.

I mean it was relatively peaceful during the Ottoman Empire but outside of that its basically always been a kettle of violence and hatred even before the Abrahamic religions emerged.

It was much earlier than 1100 BC that they haven't been at peace.

True but there are still people alive who fought in that war. Wasn't that long ago in terms of history.

Europe has had several, if not many, periods of peace though. War is inevitable at some point. My point, or question, was that I do not know of any time of peace going back hundreds, if not thousands, of years in the middle east.
