Holder takes on Texas over voting laws after court ruling
quote:

Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday the Justice Department will ask a San Antonio-based federal court to force Texas to get permission from the federal government before it can make any additional changes to its voting and election laws.

quote:

Holder, during a speech to the Urban League in Philadelphia, said that based on evidence of racial discrimination presented last year in a redistricting case in Texas, "we believe that the state of Texas should be required to go through a preclearance process whenever it changes its voting laws and practices."

But he was cool when SCOTUS ruled on the ACA.

This is what it's like when you pick and choose the laws you want to enforce, or not.

I think it's more along the lines of them being whiny little bitches who act 9th grade girls when they don't get their way. I think the WH is in a perpetual state of PMS.

Umm.. can they do that? Isn't that akin to asking say.. the 9th circuit court to rule a certain way in a case? Or not so much?

And the 5th Circuit (which tends to be very conservative) will turn around and strike down whatever that District Court decides to do, citing the Supreme Court decision in Shelby County as precedent.

Ok, I'm confused... Didnt the USSC just say that they didn't have to?

Now he is asking a lower court to force the state to go through the Fed even though the USSC said otherwise?

Is this the same Eric Holder that went to Houston last year to talk about how you shouldn't require people to show ID before voting?

At the door entering the building where he gave his speech he required 2 forms of photo ID...

So you don't need ID to vote, but you do to watch the AG speak.

Holder is as loony as Janet Reno. Just not as masculine.

lunacy would imply he did not know what he is doing. He is evil.

Didn't the supreme court overrule the part of the Civil Rights Act this year that had required states to do this?

Texas won't give in, they will give Holder a big "frick you" to this. Holder and Co. are worried about not getting those illegal immigrant votes

The scotus only struck down part of the law. Could holder not use another section to do this?
