So if the government says something, it must be true.

Got it.

I assume the administration denied it and therefore it's proven false?

Congressional testimony the next day ruined it.

Unless you think acting director McCabe lied to Congress to protect Trump.

Is it necessary to deny every false claim? Looks like we are in new territory in lots of different respects so we'll see what course this admin takes on handling the media's arm in arm stand with #resist.

In the same vein, if a newspaper says something, it must be true?

I wouldn't consider acting FBI director McCabe to be part of the administration, but he did say he wasn't aware of any such request, and that's not how a request would be made, i.e. a specific case. Under oath, mind you, and obviously he is more of a Clinton fan, what with his wife getting several hundred thousand dollars from McAuliffe.

Not really...

McCabe said he was unaware of any request for additional resources. McCabe said if the FBI were to request more resources, it would ask Congress. The acting FBI director told senators he believes the FBI has sufficient resources for the probe.

Nope, grains of salt all over the floor. I try to use subjective expected utility-ish judgement, i.e. (chance it's true) x (effect it would have if it were).

As for the White House, just WTF, last week was just epic. Trump embarrassed the VP and press sec in one go. It's not that what they say isn't necessarily true, but when they are internally contradictory in the space of two days...

And that the investigation was adequately resourced already.

Fail.

Wall Street Journal reported the same thing. I guess they are fake news, too.

Thank you for posting this. They print so many lies no one can keep up.

Yet, tomorrow the despots will STILL carry the WaPo news as gospel.

That's embarrassing for you

He actually said that's not how the FBI is run. If they need additional resources, they just shift to meet the need. THEY NEVER ask for more $$ or resources just for one case

He was very specific about that point

Kinda weak from you. It begs the rejoinder " if the media says it happened... it did?"

I remember way back when WaPo ran a front page article that said the Russians shut down the Vermont energy sector

Sworn testimony is more credible than anonymous sources who may or may not exist.

There was a time when the media was responsible enough to use anonymous sources. They've squandered that trust through their own works. They might as well say that they read it on a bathroom wall.

Ding ding ding

At one time, they were trustworthy enough to use anonymous sources.

That time has long since passed.
