The ensuing exchange inside the lobby of Trump Tower between reporters and the president over the white nationalist rally and counter-protest in Charlottesville became one of the most extraordinary moments in a presidency that’s seen plenty of them.

To Trump’s aides, it was stunning. Multiple sources inside and close to the White House described the president's senior staff as confused and frustrated, caught off guard by Trump's decision to defend his initial response to the violence in Virginia.

He “went rogue,” one senior White House official told NBC News.

The president’s team had choreographed a plan: He would descend the golden elevators of Trump Tower and step to the lectern in the lobby, flanked by his Treasury secretary, his Transportation secretary and his top economic adviser. He would highlight the infrastructure executive order he had just signed, and then he’d leave — head back upstairs and deploy his aides to handle any inquiries.

That’s the plan officials prepared reporters for as members of the media gathered in the lobby as they had so often during the president-elect Trump's transition. The president had been unusually talkative the week prior during appearances at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, and he was again ready to battle with reporters.

That sounds like solid plan. Oh well...

Mnuchin and Chao what a very uncomfortable 20 minutes. When Trump pulled the prior speech out of his pocket Mnuchin looked very concerned.

The days of the President bowing to the media and shying away from confrontation are over. Thank you God!

so many of his campaign promises have come to fruition, so yeah he is doing a great job. (outside of SC hire)

He literally could have done ZERO...and you would say that he is doing a great job b/c Hilary is not president

Holy frick

He upheld his sworn oath and condemned an organization that wants to stomp out the most important amendment we have. While also condemning another horrible group.

The absolute fricking horror of it all.

All this because people want to tear down monuments to men who fought for their states as well as the US before the civil war. But monuments of people that abused slaves are ok..

Guess what Lincoln was as open a racist as any man that lived.
In total 12 presidents commited the actual horror we are supposed to be outraged over. But to everyone its ok to leave their monuments in tact.

We are a nation of hypocrites.

Honestly it was all worth it just for the election night meltdown. That was riveting. The USSC appointments are the 2-3 cherries on top

1. ISIS - almost gone (in six months...compared to nothing for years from Obama admin)
2. Regulation roll back / decrease
3. Illegal immigration dropping by large %
4. North Korea to be at bargaining table soon
5. SC justice pick
6. Revamping the judiciary

Yep...total failure so far.
