Is he going to veto the bill allowing ISP's to sell your browsing history? When he doesn't is that still winning?

I voted for him and was thrilled at the idea of burning down DC and no more business as usual. He's done some good things for sure, but not nearly what was expected. I still hold out hope, but after four years and the swamp still exists we aren't "winning". The election is over, it's time to stop campaigning and tine to start holding the rotten pieces of shite in our government like those who voted for this bill accountable.

Considering there's no bill that will do this, I guess it's a non-starter right baw?

Is Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Bing, etc allowed to do that now?

Then why in Jan '17, was just the ISPs specifically forbidden from doing the same? By rule, mind you. Not by law.

Those companies use the data while I'm on their sites. The ISP's know everything we do. Huge difference. Why you would argue in favor of it is beyond me. In the last decade or two the entire idea of privacy has completely eroded, it's time we actually advocate for it again.

just lol

except Facebook, Google, Twitter, Linkedin, etc don't get to see YOUR ENTIRE BROWSING HISTORY.

and it's easy to stop using them. not so easy to switch ISPs, especially when most people only have a choice of 1.

1. The information collected by ISPs is way more extensive

2. I can opt out of the companies you just listed by not signing in or using private browsing. You can't opt out with ISPs.

So on one hand opt out is easy and on the other hand opt out requires you to stop using the internet.

how were they "forbidden"? The rule was that ISPs were required to ask consumers to opt-in to data selling. Now they don't have to ask permission.

That sounds lovely but if he doesn't veto this bill is he still the wind keeping you flying? Will the ISP's now being able to sell your browsing history be Obama's fault?

In fairness, why would you be tired of winning when he's failed at everything he's tried to do as president?

Disregarding the fact that they don't have access to nearly as much info as your ISP and that it's easy to just use other websites, there's also the fact that your ISP is a utility.

Many don't agree with that statement and whether they were or weren't was a cornerstone of the net neutrality debate. I agree with you thou, internet service is a utility and being such isn't going to stifle innovation as many on here argued.

Politicians need to keep their hands off the internet. Very, very few have any frickin clue what they're talking about in regards to it.

Curious, but what do we think they will be selling them for? Not saying they won't, just wanting to know how the data will/can be used (outside of advertising).
